Anyone have UHC through Franklin County?

They are telling some folks they need 3 months of a weight loss class, and others 6.

What have you been told?

What is the best way to get information? UHC knows nothing! Says we don't have WLS as a benefit.

We have the benefit.  I had my surgery at OSU a few months ago.  Mt. Carmel and Riverside seem to be applying for waivers so you don't have to do the 6 month classes.  When i found that other places were doing the faster surgeries i called OSU and they had a meeting with United Health Care and they were told 6 months or the waiver.  Personally i was upset by having to wait but i have met people from the other 2 hosptial and i believe the 6 months made me more prepared.   If you have anymore question feel free to ask..

Thanks for the reply Bri. They now say I can do the 3 month pre-op but say it may be more money. Does not make sense.

How was your post op care?

How are you doing now? Did you have a sleeve?

I don't think people paid more.  I know the fees for each hospital can vary.  OSU is $300 for the classes but they don't charge an admin fee to process the paper work.  The other hospitals have different amounts.   I don't know of any difference in a copay.  You can sign up for each hospitals class on there websites.

I have been happy with the post op care.   They see you at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and 6 months.  During those appointments you see a dietitian too.  I had a stricture and they didn't require me to come in, the nurse called and asked questions and set up the procedure to fix it.

I'm doing good.  I had the RNY.  I just advanced to a step 4 diet.   I'm not sure about tolerating other foods right now but it will get better.

The waiver thing is new, at least for me. I work for the state and had my sleeve at Riverside a year ago. Had to do the 6 months.

SFmimi--do you have franklin co. insurance?

Riverside
s program is now 3 months for FC folks.

Osu's program is either 3 or 6 mos. but Insurance requires 3 months. I am asking to do the 3 months, but they are telling me it might be more. Will call today to see.

Thanks ladies!
