I am wanting to make Meat loaf and meatballs with ground turkey and use TVP instead of Bread crumbs. Should I use it dry or reconstitute it?

 Hey Erica-
TVP is really used as more of a meat sub rather than a bread sub. If you want to try it, here is a good recipe...

Good luck!

I have a recipe using it as a bread substitute but it does don't say to hydrate it. I did mix up some meatloaves hydrating the Tvp,  seemed quite wet. Have not baked one yet though.

I use it as a bread substitute. It works great! Use it in the same measure as the bread. i.e. 1-to-1

Erica, TVP is pretty versatile. I use it dry as a replacement for breadcrumbs in meatloaf, meatballs and the such. You can also add maybe 1/4 cut to a chili or soup to thicken and give more protein.  -- Tom
