Hello everyone my name is Tracy I am new to this site... I am having my surgery on 9/21/10 I am both very excited and kinda nervous.. I have so many questions so I hope everyone bears with me... How long after surgery before I am able to start going to the gym?  Is it going to be hard to do crunches because of where the band is?  Im looking for friends who can relate and anyone who has advice... thanks...

Hi Tracy,

I'm pre WLS too.  If you haven't figured it out by now, there's not much happening on this site.  I generally go to the main board or to the surgery board for the type of surgery you're having.

I'm planning on having the sleeve procedure; so I tend to hang out on the VSG board.  What type of surgery are  you planning to have?

I wish you well and hope you have a quick and painless recovery.

What Kim said!

The Main forum or surgery forums are the best place for info.

I don't know why but the Ohio board stays pretty quiet.

Best of luck with you surgery.

Good luck on 9/21, I am sure it will be a good day for you, it is my birthday after all.
Yes, this is a quiet board for sure, but I still check in to see if anyone is talking.
I had a sleeve on 3/10/10

Hi Tracy,
Welcome to the site. I had the D/S and I think you are having the Lap Band. Right????
I think the answer to your question depends on the you are in before surgery. The better shape you are in the faster you will be back to the gym. I my case as 618 Gym was a guy I saw every morning in the mirror. So me going to the gym is something that would be months and months post-surgery.
I really think your doctor, but mainly your body will tell you when and how much you can do.
I had my D/S at Miami Valley Hospital. I haven't seen your doctors name before. Where does he operate?
Glad to here you have a date. Just one more step closer to your NEW life.
If you need a friend, feel free write any time you want.
Best of Luck
