support groups?
Your surgeon's group has a support group (well, they did two years ago, anyway!), the Sycamore/Kettering hospital WLS program has two monthly groups, and Dr. Rita Anderson also has a support group (open to ANYONE who has had any type of WLS... with any surgeon). Dr Anderson's meets at 7pm the second Thursday of each month in the waiting room of South Dayton Surgeons/New Life Surgery (which is in the physician's building attached directly to Kettering Hospital).

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Feel free to join is at Dr Rita's next Thursday at 7pm. We have both men and women in the group... some weeks it's big, some weeks it's small... but it's run by the people in the group so it's flexible enough to accommodate whatever people are dealing with or have questions about at the time.

I will start going to the ones at Miami Valley Hospital starting next Tuesday the 13th and then again on Saturday the 24th. I'm down to that and my visit with the Dietician on the 15th and hope to be able to schedule for the RNY with Dr Maguire (in Dr Teel's practice) in mid August.
Maybe we'll catch up with each other at some point.

I sure hope it moves fast. Tomorrow I meet with the dietician - any hints or tips on how that part of the process works? I emailed Jean in Dr Maguire's office today to find out how soon I could schedule, but haven't heard back yet. I'm sure she spends most of her life on the phone with insurance companies!
BTW - I went to my first support group meeting last night and really enjoyed it. Bo McCoy from OH was there and we had a very large group for the Roux en Y break out. Lots of good tips and everyone is so ready to help and provide insight. I'm sure I'll keep going.
