Insurance ?
So today I went to the seminar and am so totally psyched to have this surgery! My only concern besides whether my insurance will cover it is they gave us forms to fill out to help speed the process up...for them to issue to the insurance agency. Well one question they want answered is how many programs you've tried to lose weight. Like weigh****chers etc. And they want documentation proving you went and how long...blah blah blah. Well my concern now is that I only went to one place...the rest I've done on my own. So will the insurance agency think that's not a good enough try???
Does anyone have any ideas on this or is anyone like me and did qualify for the surgery? Just wondering.
Thanks,
Jen

They are asking those questions to help you document any official attempts at weight loss which could get you approved quicker. They also asked for weight records from your primary care doc, those are vital to show a 5 year history of obesity.
I did no official programs, just kind of gave up ahead of time because I knew the stats, and that I would have ended up even heavier than I was already. Because of that, I had to do the six month program before getting approved, but that was my insurance company's requirement. Others only require 3 months, some, none.
Don't sweat this one.

Thanks Jody! I was afraid that since I hadn't done any "official" attempts that they would say no. I do believe my husband's insurance is Medical Mutual and I think Dr. Myers said they're one that requires six months. Which sucks cuz if approved that will put me in winter. And that drive in the winter plus trying to get motivated to go out and exercise in the winter? Ick! But it will be something I have to do.
