I posted this on the main board and just found the Ohio site.  Has anyone here had VSG with Dr. Curry?  What was your experience?  Thanks for sharing :)

I he is knowen for 'the band doc' and I know he also does RNY, so I guess he is now doing the sleeve.  Go to some of his open support groups and talk to others there.
Good Luck,
Robin

Just saw this and didn't want anyone to get the idea that I just started doing sleeves. We have been doing them for 3 years now and have done about 250 of them.

Actually, the reason I am called "The BandDoctor" is because I play in a Bluegrass Band!

LOL  I'm so glad you got on here and cleared that up!  Personally I thought you only specialized in the band.

Good to know

Dr. Curry was initially the doctor I was going to go through but in the end it was going to run me a few thousand bucks (something about services out of network..don't really remember).  I loved his staff and he was great

I had the RNY by Dr. Curry on 2/9.  He is a great guy, easy to talk too.  He has had the lap band & most of his staff have had one surgery or another.

While I can't answer about the VSG I can tell you the whole experience has been wonderful.  Jewish hospital in Cincy was outstanding!

I know I'm gushing but honestly I can't say enough good about  my journey thus far..

He does everything but the DS and his patients seem to love him.  In the 5 yeard I've been on these boards, I've not heard one complaint about him or his staff.  My only complaint is that he doesnt do the DS.

its my understanding that there aren't that many doctors in this area that do it at all.  I even think I read that dr. anderson no longer does the DS...but I could be totally wrong there. sorry if I am.

You're right about Dr. Anderson.  Her aftercare was never good for DSers, and I learned how to keep healthy out here on the DS board, sharing what we find out along the way.  Andrea U and Vitalady are key people for anyone on this board, too.  Those lacking such initiative are sure to parish.  Last time I went in, I was told that I don't look like their typical DSer, in that I'm healthier than the norm.  I had a frank talk with her on how some of the office's recommendations are sub-standard and she appeared to be listening, but then I saw one of her PA's publish a book with that same sub-standard information so I gave up, honestly.  It wasn't long after that when I heard that she wasn't doing them anymore.  She is very adamant to her patients what their commitment needs to be, but it's no guarantee that they'll be compliant when they walk out of that door, either.

Dr.s Maguire and Teel are still doing the DS at Miami Valley Hospital though.  They are much more enlightened about what the DSers need, too.
