Upper GI and Endoscope Testing in the same day???
I have the endoscope and upper GI scheduled for the same day. Now the problem is learning I cant' drive after the testing and that my followup visit with the doctor is scheduled for the next day. The tests are 3.5 hrs of a drive one way from my home... it looks like it's gonna be a long day night at the hospital. Now to find a friend willing to go an all nighter so I can get these tests /Dr. visit done. So close ot the holidays makes it a premium to find anyone with the extra time available to go with me. It will all work out...but it's none the less stressful. Hope you make out well with your testing. Good Luck to you. Kathy
You know the doctors who have called me have not mentioned me having to go through an endo...but i would agree...if its done the same day...you might be needing some extra help home.
If for some unfortunate reason you cant find anybody...would a hotel nearby be possible?? Where are you headed?? I take it you are from ohio area?
Just the testing i am getting done they told me to expect to be there all day. I am very sensitive to getting blood work done...it tends to trigger pass out spells with me the rest of the day. So just for that, im hoping my fiance can get off work to come with me.
Keep us posted ;-)

Hi Brandi, Oh my story is a long one... I live in the western NY area... (about sixty miles south of Buffalo NY). I had RNY surgery done at Hamot Medical Center in Erie PA. My surgery for whatever reason left me with no restriction and has caused only weight gain after about six weeks after surgery. No answers came from there... so I started my quest to find another doctor willing to assess my bariatric care. A warning to anyone looking at bariatric surgery... when things don't go right... it's near impossible to get another doctor to assess your care. I was referred out to Cleveland Ohio (a 3.5 hour drive one way in good weather from my home). I had to get out of network approval from my insurance company to go out of state for care. My primary care doctor has been great but unfortuantely bariatrics is out of her realm of expertise. I wanted to stay on campus at Cleveland... the cheapest room being 124.00/night...but the hospital will not release me to stay the night alone after the sedation for the endoscope (makes me wonder how looped I"ll be after that procedure)... then I have to find my way to another area to get the upper GI series done next while I'm still under the influence). Should be an interesting day and I too appreciate the support. Let's hope the next day I can find my way back to NY :-). I hope your fiance can go with you. So far the only one willing to go with me here is the dog...smile. I'll keep you posted.
Well for starters, i gotta say i empathize with this roller coaster your on! What a journey!!!! Im not sure i'd have the faith of weight loss in my mind after all those headaches. So good for you...for keeping on truckin!!!!
Is it possible for them to do the upper GI before the other? Or will your stomach have to be empty in order to do the endo? What a huge headache. Man o man i feel for ya hunny!!!!!
My prayers are with ya darlin. Hopefully your support system comes through and can help you out, so you can FINALLY get you to the peak of your journey of success!!!!
As always,....you let me know how it goes.
Cleveland is about 4hours from me. I've been there a few times though. Not to add any extra worry...but as anywhere else....watch your steps where you end up. Bad parts are scattered there :-)

No the Upper GI requires that you drink that wonderful chalky mixture and you cant' have it before the endoscope. So that's out of the question. I'll be so relieved to know just why I did not achieve the weight loss that I had hoped for. This will be the testing that sheds answers and hopefully pounds too :-). I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the warning about being careful in Cleveland... bigger cities unfortuantely come with security issues. Thanks for your comments. I'll keep you posted. Kathy
