HI everyone, I'm Tara...and I'm new. I just attended a seminar in Cincinnati with Dr. Trace Curry on Saturday. I went in convinced that I wanted gastric bypass, but left leaning towards the Lap Band. I'm very nervous about this whole process and was wondering if anyone has gone through his process before? Does anyone have any comments about Trace Curry??

Thank you! Looking forward to getting to know some of you!!

I did not have Dr. Curry but have heard him speak and you are in good hands. As far as to which WLS to have just keep doing your research and look at the way and why you eat. I know a lot of people who have gotten the band and did not lose the way they wanted to because they still didn't make the lifestyle changes they needed to.  If you go with RNY you are have to make those changes or you might dump (for me this is a GOOD thing it keeps me on track)
SOOOOO this is where you need to look inside your self and make  a list of PROS and CONS with EACH WLS.
Do you want to have fills to find that 'sweet spot'??
Are you ready to give up pasta, bread and maybe other foods for a while??
What will your insurance cover?? Does it cover the fills also?? Many have a $ cap on ALL WSL.
Not every WLS is right for every person that is why there are so many now. Keep research and you will find the right one for you.

I was in the same boat as you in the beginning.  Only you can answer the questions that you've asked.  I know that I finally chose lap band because it was reversible, and I could always 'start over' should I start down the wrong path.

I live in Cleveland and drove to Cincinnati to be a patient of Dr. Curry's.  I had my surgery in June of 2008.  I am since down about 140 pounds.  I have ten more pounds to go until I get to the goal that he set for me, and twenty pounds to go until I get to my personal goal.

He has been the best and most supportive doctor I have ever had.  He and his staff have seen me through some roughh patches, and they are always accessible and there when I need them.

Best of luck in making the choice that's right for you!  If you have any questions on anything, feel free to let me know!
