Accommodations available at the Cleveland Clinic ???
I am one of the unfortunate ones whose lapband just didn't work. I am a post menopausal woman of 61 years and have many medical conditions that I believe has kept me from losing any weight. I did lose 23 lbs initially, but stopped shortly after my lapband was placed. And I, too, am slowly gaining my lost weight back a little at a time. I feel like such a failure at this, as I have with all the other diets I've been on since I was in my 30's. Diets just don't work for me, and apparently the lapband won't either. I am taking a hiatus from dieting for now and may "regroup" in the near future again. So frustrating.
I hope you get the info you need from other posters and the website I sent you. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the reply. Oh I can so feel for you with the lapband that just wasnt' ... same as my RNY wasn't. It's amazing how one thing works for one person and then not as good for another. Always seems like I'm on the short end of the stick. (Weight loss included :-)).
I've been checking out the Cleveland clinic website. I'll be traveling alone and worry if I have to have an endoscope done at some point in time I won't be able to hop in the car and drive home. So I'm trying to figure things out ahead of time. A girlfriend is willing to go with me...but I figure I'll save that offer for if and when I need surgery and cant' drive back home.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience at CC. I wish you the best with your situration too.
Kathy
Sounds like your appointment went alright. What class are you talking about? Is there a class for revision patients as well? Did you have an endoscope done at CC By Dr. Schauer? I'm wondering if there are preops for that too. I dont' know a lot about revisions but I'm trying to be a quick study. I'm thinking my pouch has no bottom... and everything just drops right through. I have no restriction and could eat all day and never be satisfied or feel full.
Today Kim called me from CC. Go figure I was at the YMCA for my morning workout /swim. I try to exercise, watch what I eat and stay away from the dreaded scale as it's in a climb cycle. I hope Dr. Schauer will see me. Kim needed my approval letter to go to Dr. Schauer...but it does say "initial consult" and all other procedures need prior authorizations.
Is there anything you can share about the revision program at CC? Who knows maybe we'll both be at the class during the first of the year. Thanks for your replies... I appreciate all that you've been so willing to share. Kathy
I live in the CC area, can you let me know a little more of what you are looking for and a price range for a hotel? I have good luck w/ priceline.com. The CC has their own hotel, however it is VERY costly.
I also have Dr. S, I'm very happy with him ... and I'm VERY picky about my doc's :D

If I drive to CC alone and have a procedure done that leaves me unable to drive. I'm wondering where can I stay that is reasonably priced. I hate relying on friends to drive me places. Usually they tell you that a driver is mandatory. I figure how big CC is there must be a shuttle to get you to some place to spend the night. Also if the winter roads get to bad... I may need a place to stay. Just trying to see what accommodations are available and if it's better to stay on campus or a few miles away from CC.
Thanks for the good words about Dr. S. I sure hope things go well for me with him also. Thanks for your post. I appreciate all the info. I can get.
Kathy
I also had Dr. Schauer for my RNY this past March. He is a very wonderful and kind man.
I had a very easy surgery and recovery because i believe he is an excellent surgeon.
The Cleveland Clinic is attached to the intercontinental hotel which would be the easiest place to stay. If you feel like some activity when you are done with your appointment, you could stay downtown cleveland at the Renaissance which is in walking vicinity of the Rock n Roll Hall of fame and some nice restaurants and shopping.
Good luck,
Susan
The shuttle service from the Intercontinental hotel sound like a wonderful service. I'll have to check out the Renaissance... your idea of shopping sounds nice. Checking out Cleveland sites could be fun. You've got me wondering .. I wonder how sparkly the downtown area of Cleveland is for Christmas... could be inviting I'm sure.
How are you doing after your RNY? Does Cleveland give you a book of instructions to follow post-op? I'm curious how they run their RNY program. My first RNY was done at Hamot in Erie... and it just did not give me the results I had hoped for. I pray Dr. S. can shed some light on what I might do to get some of my excess poundage off.
Thanks for your post. Kathy
