Had RNY 7/21!!!  Yay, right??....Well since surgery I have a loss of sensation in my right thigh - from my knee all the way up to my hip.  Still have feeling in the front part of my thigh, but nothing really on the side of my thigh and in parts of the back of my leg???  Sometimes, I have internal feelings of very cold liquid rushin through, and sometimes burning pains.    I am bein told it is most likely from the positioning on the O.R. table and that it should go away on its own, but it seems to be getting worse.  Anyone have this happen?

HELP!!!!!

Ladygz,

I had issues with my feet because of the long surgery and being held in place on the table.  There was numbness and burning on the sides of both my feet, it did go away on its own, but I would strongly suggest you call the surgeon's office and strongly try to get them to have u come in and be looked at.  Wish you good luck in your journey.  =)

Make sure to bring all of these issues up in your follow up visit.  Also, be sure to call the number they gave you if you have any problems.  The pain sensations are normal-- remember that you were cut and your body is healing, so moving from position to position can cause pain.  If you have pain take the pain  meds you were given-- I took mine on and off for about 10 days out of the hospital.

I would doubt that this is serious, because remember that x-ray they took after surgery checks for all leaks, so you are most likely air tight.

The "water" rushing should be going into your drain, you should feel some fluid moving (remember you are drinking a lot of full liquids and water).  This is most likely normal.

Also, mention these things when they give you a call.

Try to google this:    Meralgia Paresthetica

This sounds very much like what I've been going through.  I seen my doctor last week about it and he told me to take 100 mg Vit. B6 twice daily.  He said the only cure for it is surgery, but weight loss will improve it and FYI, with the more weight I do lose, the less it does bother me.  He says that it will just take time for the nerves to become less compressed.  I don't know if this is what you're experiencing - it sounds very similar to my situation.  I hope this helps.
