I just started the journey to my surgery. I did the seminar at Cleveland Clinic and am scheduled for the psych evaluation 08/11.
I am really nervous because I want to have the surgery done before the end of the year and I am afraid it is going to take longer than that to get all the way through the drs approval, then my insurance approval process. I don't have any dr supervised diet requirements and no comorbidities(sp). However, I am sure I will have to have a sleep apnea test.
How long does it usually take from seminar to surgery?

Welcome!

I am seeing Dr. Trace Curry in Cincinnati.  My seminar was June 3rd and my surgery is scheduled for August 11th.

Hope that helps!

That is really quick!

I am going to the Cleveland Clinic and they are making me see the psychiatrist first then once they CLEAR me I have to go to nutrition and they have to clear me so I can see another dr(I think), and THEN the surgeon before they send away for my approval! I really want to have it done before our insurance has a chance to change, and I feel like they just don't get it!

Hmm....well I live in the Dayton area and have a couple of friends who had their surgery done by Dr. Curry.  I checked out their website www.thebanddoctor.com and was able to schedule my info seminar, nutritionist appt, insurance coordinator appt, nurse practitioner appt and psych appt ALL on the same day.  It was a long day but it was worth it!  After those appts I had to get 2 yrs of med records, an upper gi and an eval from my family doctor.  I had all that done within 2 wks and faxed everything to Dr. Curry.  His office staff is incredible!

I wish you all the luck with CCF, the program is supposed to be 6 months. Long story short....I went through their program, only to have my insurance carrier change before approval.

One word of advise....keep a detailed record (names, dates & times) of EVERYTHING (phone calls espically.)

I would say with no diet requirements it wouldnt take long. I had 6month diet requirements and that is what held things up.

I had surgery at Cleveland Clinic and it didn't take too long.  I went to the seminar the last day week Novenber and was approved for surgery by February. Ihad no supervised diet requirements and no co-morbidities (but my BMI was 47).  I hope all goes well for you. If you have any other questions about the program let me know.
