Hi there! Glad to meet you on here!! Can you tell me a little about how they do the fills (at Dr. Miller's office). Just curious. Seems like a wide variation on how much they start with etc! Thanks!
Crystal -- Dr. Miller asks me a series of questions on each of my check up appointments on the frequency of my eating each day, 3 meals, 3 snacks, and quantity per meal or per sitting that I can eat. Am I getting hungry between meals? Am I getting exercise? If yes, what kind of exercise, how often in a week and how many minutes per workout? He makes his judgment call on fills based on his consulting with you and then tells you what he has given you on a fill amount. I don't push for a more aggressive fill schedule and thankfully, I've never needed an unfill due to this. I think I have had others go and ask for more aggressive, and a couple had to get an unfill a few days later when they couldn't swallow liquids well and that is an absolute red flag you need an unfill. Don't go more than 12-24 hrs without being able to get in sufficient liquids because you can get dehydrated. Just take your fills slow and steady and you'll get there.
I should add that Dr. Miller gives me 8 oz. glass of water right after each fill and I have to sit there and drink it in front of him/his nurse and I have to verbally say I am okay before I leave the doctor's office. Again, if you can't get that glass of water down, say so right then and there.
