Weightloss surgery and pregnancy
We actually talked about this a great deal at our 3 month follow visit last month. I've known women who got pregnant as early as 12 months out. My doctor recommens at LEAST 12 month and prefers at least 18 months out. By 2 1/2 years you should be mostly stabilized and able to take in the right foods for you and baby to grow and be healthy. I'd contact your surgeon if you're still unsure and be sure your OB/GYN knows the scoop. By 2 1/2 years, though, I think it's safe bet the you've learned what you need to do. Keep a good log of what you're eating to be sure you're getting all you need. (Your OB/GYN can give you this info)
I have a good friend who wasn't even a year out when she got pregnant. They almost hospitalized her because she continued to lose so much weight while pregnant. She and the baby were fine and her daugher is now five years old with no health problems. It's really about eating nutriously and making every calorie count!
Good luck and congratulations!
