Columbus, OH Mt. Carmel Bariatric Style Show -- April 25 2009 2pm
For those of you in the Central Ohio area who want a really uplifting experience, stop by the Tuttle Mall in Columbus, OH this coming Saturday at 2pm on the 1st floor by Macy's at the back side of the mall. Mt. Carmel's Bariatric program has an annual fashion or style show where the mall takes about 10 or so patients and they tell the story of their weight loss journey and the stores dress them in great clothes and do their make up and hair to look great. The stories are a combination of patients of RNY and Lapband.

No I won't be in it ... maybe next year if I am closer to my goal weight! I am down 100 lbs now with my lapband at about 13 months post op but have a way go. I'm definitely going to need to consider some plastic surgery, panniculectomy at least, to help with clothes fitting better. I bet right now I could wear 1-2 size smaller pants if I didn't need that coverage in the tummy.
I'm kind of amazed at how my thighs and knees area have gotten smaller. Interesting, I don't see my calves as much smaller. I figure the lower legs are pretty muscular from having to support all that extra weight walkign around for so many years so until they have to stop lifting as much weight, the muscles may not go down in size as much for a while.

This style show was so wonderful. There were a combination of about 10-12 RNY and Lapband patients in the show and each was stunning in their story of WLS success and the journey that brought them to that decision and now to today. There was a doctor (MD) who had lost 200 lbs and he was so funny and strutting his stuff so proud with a fabulous suit and great sun glasses and the last lady in the style show had lost about 180 lbs and she had plastic surgery (tummy tuck and maybe other?) and she looked drop dead gorgeous in a red full length Jessica McClintock gown that was very fitted. If you saw her walking down the street you would have never suspected she had ever been 180 lbs overweight.
So inspirational. I'll post for next year's style show as this was the 4th annual show and hopefully they do it again next year. When I get to my goal I will consider being in it!
