facial twitches and cramps
Hi. I have begun having small twitches on the left side of my mouth and more severe leg cramps. It is not noticeable to others. I am thinking that this might be related to my not taking my vitamins as scheduled. I have been off them for financial reasons, but recently restarted them. Any advice? I am 19.5 months open RNY. Thanks
It seems to me that you really, really need to contact your doctor's office. These seem like severe reactiosn to lack of vitamins. However, I know that my surgeon's office spent a LOT of time with us on the vitamins, especially the B12 (I think this was the one) because it causes neurological damage that can't be reversed if the levels remain too low for too long. You definitely need to seek medical advice/attention and not look for an answer here. You don't want to mess around with your nervous system, if that's what it is!
Could be dehydration or an electrolyte imbalance, could be a problem with not enough magnesium and potassium. Try drinking more and eating some bananas for a few days and see if it improves... and at least be sure you take your multi-vitamin!!!!
If it continues you really should get some lab work done to be sure you don;t have some level or another that's really low.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Are you asking about our "Shed & Share" WLS support group? (If so, it's the second Thursday of every month at Dr Rita's office (attached to Kettering Hospital).)
Everyone's welcome, and it's a great group, so feel free to join us!

I'm glad to hear that you got things under control. How are you taking your B-12? My doctor's office now recommends an IM shot. Rather than going to the office, they give me the Rx. (IT's a once a month shot) Paying for the hypodermic needle AND the Rx, it's under $5 per month. Well worth the quick ***** that, most times, I don't even feel! Might be worth looking into. I just couldn't handle another pill. UGH!
In any case.. I'm glad you're on the mend. Stay on top oof those vitamins!
