Update on skiing trip!
Well, it has been almost a month since I last posted. It was the week that I was laid off and pretty sad. But I was preparing for a ski trip that had been planned for about a year and so all I could concentrate on was getting my stuff packed up from my office and pack up my stuff for the trip, pack up my cat and my mom's cat who were going to the cat motel and pack up my mom for her respite care at a local assisted living home. So that week went fast and we were on our way to Colorado. When we landed in Denver on the 20th it was warm and no snow in sight. We were almost all the way to Beaver Creek before we saw some new snow, but we were delighted that the mountains were expecting several storms to come in that week. Needless to say we were surprised when we had two blizzards that dumped a total of 35+ inches from Tuesday - Friday! We had a great time in the condo and wonderful places to eat. I skiied everyday except Thursday. I fell about 5 times and the last one did me in! I am still sore in my right knee, but loved being able to ski again after 20 years of obesity kept me from doing much of anything! Check out my photos that I down loaded - couldn't put all of them there, but at least I have a few of me skiing and my 75 year old ski instructor who was a well know "Extreme Terrain" skier! This has just been the crowning touch to my 15 months of weight loss! Except for losing all the weight I wanted to lose as well as my surgeons goals, I have done more than I ever expected to do and am so glad to have been able to get to this point in my life.
And for those who gave me support for my newly diagnosed diabetic cat! His blood sugar's have been below 90 for the past 1.5 weeks and hasn't had insulin since the 26th of March. It looks like he is going to be well controlled with his new diabetic formula cat food. One less thing to be worried about. My mom on the other hand still has boughs where she doesn't remember who I am, but she is doing ok. Her kidney doc put her on Procrite to see if we can get her very low hemagloblin and low iron stores up. Her kidney failure is stable right now, so that is a blessing too.
Thanks to everyone who sent there notes of support during this last month. Now if I can just find a job again! So far I haven't had much luck!
