auto accident in my new car today

Thanks to a massive parking-lot type backup on I-75, I was running late for a doctor's appt in northern Cincy and was trying to go around the backup and ended up having an accident in the new car that I just got in August.  :(  I'm ok... just a couple of bruises... and really shaken up... but the car is another matter.  The entire passenger side front door was completely demolished (bent in over top of the passenger seat from front to back), and the front wheel (and probably axel) are messed up pretty good.  I had to call my mom to drive down from Centerville to come get me (the police took me to Bigg's to wait for her because they couldn't stick around to wait with me and obviously the car had to be towed).  I'm still really shaky.   I lost someone very dear to me in an auto accident so it has stirred up a lot of stuff related to that.

They cited me for failure to yield on a left-hand turn (I honestly did not see her at all), so I have to go to court... and have the extra hassle of having my car being looked at, etc. "long distance".

We were wondering what happened to you last night.   Sorry to hear about the accident but glad to hear you were not hurt.  Hope you are not without your car for too long.

Auto accidents are the pits!  I had one in Sept with my 2  year old CRV.  Someone failed to stop and pulled out in front of me in a parking lot and the then continued to drag me for about 10 more feet before stopping.  I was only going about 15 mph, but it was $12,000 for my repairs and 6 weeks without my car.  Only injuries were from the seat belt and the airbag smacking my arm and chest.  But it was unnerving to say the least.  I am so sorry for your accident  and with memories about a loss to add to your experience,  your feelings are understandable.  It may take a bit of time to feel comfortable driving again.  I know it did for me, and I had no other experience with a loss.

Lora,

Glad you're OK.  The DH makes that drive up to WP every day and the stories he tells about the drivers are incredible!
