weepy
I am 8 days from having my surgery and today all I have wanted to do is cry, I feel as though I am grieving for something but not knowing what exactly it is. I have no regrets at all , I know this is the best thing I can do for my health, so why all the tears, if freaks me out at times.as others had this much crying and weepness before their surgery. Thanks Jan
Joetta,
It is perfectly normal to go through this. You are facing a major life change and it will be a huge adjustment for a while. I bet we all went through something similar so don't feel bad.
If you need to talk please let me know.
PS I had a college friend that lived in Cambridge. You are the only other person I have heard of living there since him.

For some people, the anxiety and emotionality can come from a fear of the unknown (because even all the research in the world does not prepare you for how YOUR body will react after surgery, whether you will dump, what it will really be like to change your eating patterns, etc.). For some it can be anticipating the "loss" of food (as comfort, as a coping mechanism, as a part of social life), and for otehrs it can just be the anticipation of such a major life change and the normal wprry about undergoing a serious surgery.
You will be fine, though... and soon you will be on the "losing" side! Just hang in there and post if you need to.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Hi Jan,
Sorry I don't have any words of wisdom. I haven't been on in a while but I have been thinking about you. I thought Dr. Needleman was doing your surgery? I don't think think it matters Dr. Mikami seemed nice too, when I met him.
If it will make you feel better I've been crying a lot too lately, but mine is a combination of things, no. 1 being I forget to take my meds regularly.
Jan, I'm sure everthing will go fine. God be with you.

Yes I was going to go with him when I 1st was going to have this, but then he was not avaiable for the times I needed and Dr. Mikami was so thats how that came about.I too peggy used to have trouble remembering my meds, So I had to make a "rountine" for me with them, so now that is the 1st thing i do in the am, I get up come down stairs and straight to my meds then on to my coffee and then the news for 15 mins then shower ect... so maybe that would work for you make it a part of your everyday rountine. Hell I am so used to taking my daily meds it will be weird only having vit and asprin to take. I will let you know how things go once I am up and home ok. thanks and Happy New Year.

Hi Janice,
I cried every day the last week before my surgery. I'd be doing something, anything and next think I knew I'd be crying. You're going through a tough time and it will get better. Also the first week or two after surgery were very hard on me. I know you've just had your surgery but, you will be fine probably around 4 - 6 weeks one day you'll realize you're doing pretty good. Take Care
