MVH Info Session
I went to Kettering with Dr. Rita Anderson and Dr. Maguire was her assistant the used to be in practice together before her wnet to start the new program at MVH. ANYWAY.......I would say go to several info sessions with several docs and then chose who you fit best with. ALSO I'm in Franklin if you want to chat just let me know. I'm 5 years post op and have had NO COMPLICATIONS at all.
Good Luck,

I have already been to the info session at UC and was pretty impressed with them. My best friend just had surgery with Dr. Teel and is doing awesome so I am going to attend his info session to check them out. I probably can't have surgery for quite a while as I am in nursing school, so we will see. Thanks for the info!
I won't be at the January 2, that's our first day back to work.
I requested to represent the band as a work in progress in December, as I am a "fast loser" for a bandster, and I wanted to encourage others that it can happen....the other surgeries would not have been a good option for me at that time.
Dr. Teel is a genious at laparascopic surgeries, and Dr. Maguire is a sweetie and one of the original founders of bariatric surgery. They are a great team, and Dr. S joined them from Good Sam.
Debra A. is a great program manager, she is awesome, and so is the primary nutritionist, Debra T. Good office staff too, Jennifer is great with insurance.

I was banded Nov. 3 of this year by Dr. Rita Anderson in Kettering. I haven't attended a support group yet, but want to join one in January. Anyone familiar with a good support group for bandsters in dayton, OH?
Keep an eye out on this forum. I believe Dr Anderson's group meets Jan 8th from 7-8 (2nd thursday of the month at her office... Dr Anderson is not there for the meeting.. it's pretty much run by the patients... and Suzie, the Bariatric Coordinator. She's freakin awesome! )
There's also a great group of us that meet at Dr. Schumacher's office the 2nd wednesday of the month from 7-8. (which will be Jan 14th)
Kettering hospital has one as well.. not sure of the day time... I stopped going because I adore the folks at the Sycamore (Schumacher office) location.
People from all over come to these meetings (doesn't matter which surgeon) and we normally have a mixed group of Pre/Post ops as well as multiple surgery types (DS/RNY/VSG/Band)
Let me know if you have any questions.
Those of you talking about going to the informal meeting I highly reccomend the support groups.. you'll get a really good feeling about the surgery from a patients point of view.
