When I had my RNY, I was told never to have an MRI and one of the drugs to avoid was Glucosmaine Chondrotin. Why is this? Aren't the surgical staples non metal? Does glucosamine irritate the stomach? I am dealing with some bone issues now and both of these are things i need. Any info appreciated. Thank you

Surgical staples are typically made of MRI-safe metal.  However, I do not know exactly what kind of staples were used in your cases so I can't advise you one way or another on that for sure.  As far as glucosamine, we do not prohibit our RNY patients from taking it.

HHmmmmm?  Are all staples titanium?  What else could they be?  I'm hoping for gold or platinum....
