Excited about next step of my journey!
I know I have not been very active on the OH boards, but I thought I would share my information with you.
I have been approved for reconstructive surgery through my insurance provider!!!
I have my next follow up appointment with the surgeon on October 21st. I spoke with my boss yesterday morning due to the recovery time of 3-4 weeks. She is very supportive and I am looking forward to this next step in my journey.
I went to see the plastic surgeon after he spoke to a support group meeting that I attended in North Olmstead and his office submitted all the paperwork, photos, history to my insurance company. The doctor even called to speak with the reviewer for a peer to peer discussion and was able to get a second procedure approved!!!!
It is hard for me to grasp the concept that the insurance company has approved the procedures and I will soon be going in for another life altering event.
When I started my gastric bypass journey, I never anticipated that I would ever look into the reconstructive surgery route, but am glad I took the chance to see what the insurance had to say.
I know people say this all the time, but please, please be sure to take photos of any/all issues you have along the way. The doc said that my photos would be very beneficial to submit and obviously something worked..
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Thank you Caroline.
I took pictures each time I had a rash and made an appointment with my pcp to get it treated and documented. Along with that, I made sure I had a comparision picture of before and after to submit with the other photos so they could see the progress. The surgeon also took his series of photos at the office and sure enough, I had a trace of a rash / infection that day also.
Best of luck to you as you continue your journey and feel free to contact me anytime.
