Storm results!

I really feel bad for everyone who was affected by the storms over the past week.  We didn't have anything major in our area - a few trees down and lots of stuff blowing around in the yards.  My mom on the other hand lives near Youngstown.  She is in 84,early dementia, chronic lung diseas on oxygen and living alone with help from the family.  I have been wanting her to move into an assistive living place, but she refuses to leave her home.  Well on Sunday, when I went to take her groceries and clean up a bit, I found that her dining room ceiling was 1/4 gone, it was laying all over in big pieces, insultation was hanging down and the room was filled with water.  The carpet was soaked.  We had stored all of her  extra "stuff", gifts for family, a combination of junk and good stuff that she has gathered f rom over shopping and mail order. She had been a collector of stuff for about 10 years - most of which she will never use!  But the point is everything in the room is lost.  The room off the dining room between the house and garage is also affected but the ceiling is intact.  The carpet is also ruined.  The plaster turned to mud.  We took out many large plastic containers that she had put her things in, and they were filled to the brim with water.  Gallons of water!  And to make matters worse - this leak from the roof must have been going on awhile, because there is black mold everywhere.  So now I am trying to get her moved and she will probably have to come to my house for a good while.  I don't know how this will work out - we are trying to fiqure everything out with the move.  I have a two story house, she can't do stairs.  She has a cat that my husband is concerned about it's relationship to our cat.  But this weekend we are moving her from Youngstown to Tallmadge.  I could  really use some prayers as we go about this very major change in our lives.  My mom has not wanted to go anywhere and this is going to hurt her to leave her home of 56 years that my dad built.  It's hard for her to let go and I really understand all of that, but she is not safe there any more and until we get everything fixed, she has to be with us.  Thanks for listening!

hi pam...you got my prayers and best of luck to get your mom moved to a safer healthier area!!! maybe this is a blessing in disguise to get her moved out...black mold is dangerous to have anyone living with!! she will be better off living with others even if in an assisted living place...i wish her well...

hugs

Thanks Judy - I am always amazed at how God does things in our lives.  This is a blessing in disguise as my mom would never consent to moving out.  I have been trying to convince her to go to an assistant living place and she wanted to stay at home as long as she could.  It has been the desire of my heart to be able to care for my mom better than just a few hours here and there.  God knows that she wouldn't leave without this disaster, so yes it is a blessing!

Oh, Pam! What a challenge. She's so lucky to have you, though.

Thinking of you...
