Just checking in to see if everyone made it ok yesterday.

We were without power since 3pm yesterday and got it back this morning around 6:30.   Trees in my front yard are destroyed (found out my big flowering tree had termites when I looked outside to see it swaying back and forth like a pendulum.. luckily it didnt up root)

Managed to find a gas station that sold me some ice for 6 dollars so I could save my freezer.

I lived in Florida for over 10 years and the hurricanes we had in Sarasota were never this bad.

I just hope everyone is physically ok.  I know a good portion of Southern Ohio will be without power for a few days.

I have several 8-10 foot branches, and a half dozen 4-5 foot ones, in my front yard.  Fortunately, none hit the house.

I got my power back at 11:30 last night - I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I had an appointment in Dayton with my surgeon this afternoon so called them to see what was up there. They were open so I made the trip - Dayton seems to be in a little better shape than this part of SW OH. I wasn't sure I was going to make it there and back - needed gas but no stations were open. My work was cancelled so I got the day off with pay and now don't have to use sick time for my doctors appointment.

I feel so bad.. people still don't have power in my division.   It seems like sporatically down paragon there are places that have power and places that don't.   Gas stations are still closed, and the ones that are open have mile long lines.

I will say that was uber pissed this morning.   Sinclair didn't post their closing until 7:45 this morning.   Well I went into work at 6:30 so I could put in my 8+ hours before heading to school.  What a waste of gas... I could have car pooled!   But hey, if that's the worst of my issues, then I'm doing pretty good.

Yes, the power is still veyr spotty all over the south and east suburbs.  My power came on in the middle of the night (early morning ) Monday, but people half a mile away are STILL without.  My mom only lost power for about 4 hours, but NONE of us has cable/internet/home phone still.

Our power went out at about 2:45pm on Sunday and FINALLY cam back on today TUESDAY at about 3:30pm.  I still had to go to work (KMart) even though we were closed we had about 4 empolyees there. We put together the CHRISTMAS TREES and put away stock IN THE DARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then the back up lights went out at about 8PM on Sunday and I said I'm out of here I didn't want to stay in t totally dark store.  Went in yesterday from 1-6 and more of the same. Put stock away IN THE DARK still no back up lights so we worked with FLASH LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm off today so I trashed a lot of food in the frezzer and fridge that I thought was bad. Better safe than SICK.
Stil no TV cable. but have power.

I drove to Georgia on Sunday.  It was SO windy on the road and branches were flying everywhere.  I feel very fortunate to not have been struck by a branch or driven off the road .. all of us cars were unintentionally switching lanes.  At one point, I started singing the theme song to the Wicked Witch of the West!

I live in West Carrollton and we  just got our power back last night around 8 pm.  That was nine, count em, nine days sans power.  We had ho****er so that was a blessing.  We did a lot of eating out, which I had no intention of doing this close to surgery.  It was a hard lesson, but I made it.  I'd like to say I'm a little smarter since I read five books, but I don't think the smutty novels count.  Hope everyone is OK!

PS One of our tall maples split in half and fell into the street.  Luckily we have a neighbor who is a tree-trimmer who only charged us a small fortune to clean it up right away.
