If you could do it over again...
In a heart beat. I wish I would have done it sooner.
I might have looked into/researched BP/DS just a little more since I am finding myself SNACKING AND GRAZING to much at time. The doc and insurance would have done/paied for either but I chose RNY because more was knowen about it at the time and it was "the gold standard" and I didn't want to run the risk of loss and runny BM'S. and all the gas I read about. To really talk to BP/DS people they say it's not that bad.
I would just do a lot of research and find out what is RIGHT FOR YOU and your EATING HABITS.
I do LOVE my RNY because I have lost over 105lbs and have kept off over 85 over the past almost 5 years.
Good Luck,
Robin

Yes, I would do it again, and I would do the RNY again. I seriously considered the DS the first time around, though. I was too afraid of the extra level of malabsorption (beyond what there is with RNY) and the possibility of being one of the ones who has trouble with diarrhea and gas with the DS. I know that lots of people don't have a problem with the diarrhea and/or gas (including a friend of mine), but I just wasn't willing to take the chance on being one of the ones who DOES... my life is way too busy to have those kinds of issues.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I would keep my band. My issues are primarily volume eating and emotional eating.
Volume eating is cured with proper respect for the band.
Emotional eating is not cured by any surgery. I have therapy and support groups and exercise for that.
I am happy to take a few important vitamins and reaching my goals. I am not losing as fast as I would with RNY, which I did consider...but I am still losing at a good rate (for a bandster). So I would not change. I knew for me, it was probably the DS or band, and I was not willing to go through the possible side effects....

I live in Loveland. What surgery did you have, who was your surgeon? I saw you lost 10 pounds pre op. Did you do the Medifast diet? Did your Dr. tell you how much to lose pre op? I am worried. I am 8 days away from surgery and I have lost 11 pounds. Not sure how much I should lose, but I am not eating the special diet. I am counting my calories and sticking under 8oo/day. Good to hear a success story. Keep up the good work.
