My insurance approved my surgery but can't get anyone at osu!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited and nervous but also annoyed. My insurance approved my lapband surgery but I cannot get through to anyone at OSU. All I need to do is meet with the doc and set a date. I have gone through the 6 month living well and the four week class. Supposedly they sent my info to insurance when I was in the 4 week class but did not really do it until 2 weeks after it was over. Even though when I did talk to someone at osu she told me something that made me think they had sent it in. Then I called the insurance company daily until I realized they never sent my paperwork in. Then I called OSU left message after message and finally talked to one of the insurance people who said they just got my file and that they were going to send it in the next day or after. Now I am once again calling and calling and no one answers or they are on vacation. This sucks. iread on some older posts that they are short staffed and I was told this during my 4 week course but how long should they stay shortstaffed if they have patients who are ready to go? You come so far and then something like this delays you. Anyone have any recent experience with OSU? Everything has been o****il this point. I guess I am just excited and my patience is a little short.
I went to OSU but because of what you are saying right now, I changed places. I was so disgusted. You could never get hold of them. And the person who did the insurance, words cannot describe her. Plus, I had Dr. Mikami and he told me that they do lapband surgery but they don't really like to, they prefer to do RNY. I don't particularly want to go to a doctor who doesn't support what he's doing. I want a doctor who believes in the lap band. I wasted so much time with them.
If I were you I would change centers, Mt. Carmel has a pretty good program, if you don't want to go out of town. Dr. Curry did mine, but he's in Cincinnati and out of network. But if it will help, I'll look up my old info from OSU and see if I can find you a phone number and I'll PM you.
Good Luck,

WOW< have things changed so much at osu? i loved dr cook and heather they were great. i didn't get lab band had to go rny cuz of scars on my tummy. i have not been in touch with dr cook and dr needlemans office i know dr cook stopped doing surgey, but still seen me when i needed him. i hope your able to get over this hurddle good luck and burn up the phone lines, i know i did i had medicare and medicaid so lots of calls had to be made did you call the hospital at osu or just the drs office. i called and they sent me a package and then sent me to the dr that fit my needs..
She had the RNY Hun. Her weight had gotten very high and Dr. Needleman had a enlarged liver to deal with during surgery. He did such a good job and she is doing wonderful. She was back to work in 2 weeks and is telling everyone she's not felt this good for such a long time. As of this morning she has lost 45 pounds and she is thrilled. He is a good Doctor.
Wow... glad I am not the only one..I am finishing my 4week classes now and just have one more meeting with Dr. Needleman before scheduling a surgery date..but as far as getting ahold of OSU..It is ridiculous. I cannot believe how unorganized they are and never return phone calls even though the message says they will be returned within one business day. I understand y our frustration. I am there too but I know I am so close that I am just biting my tongue. my only advice is to keep calling nonstop lol Good luck! Hope all goes well!
