I had mine removed years ago before surgery. At that time they could only do mine open and it took me about 4 weeks before I could really do anything. Hopefully you have yours lap and the down time is not as long. It wasn't bad. I've always handled surgeries well. Best wishes to you.

Afterwards- I couldn't eat certain foods. Fatty foods don't agree with you and some high fiber foods and raw vegetables. I couldn't eat salads unless I was at home- get my meaning. LOL

Thanks, and yeah..I get what you mean..lol I love salads too..oh boy!!   I was told already that it would be done lap, and that I may not even have to stay over night. As for the fatty foods..I don't need them anyway..lol

I'm curious, why before and not during?

Hi Steve,
My doctor wants to take my gallbladder out prior to WLS because I have had 3 C-Sections, and there may be some scar tissue that he needs to work around. He felt it would be better to take my gallbladder out first..

I had mine out 4 years ago by lap.  It was easy as pie.  I was off work for two weeks but could have went back after a week or less.  I can eat anything.  I wish I couldn't.  I have some problems but I think that is due to ibs.  You should do great if it is lap.  I feel 100 percent better since I had it out.

Thank you..I hope I'll do ok. I hear it's not a big deal to have my gallbladder out. I'm just a big baby..lol

I had my gallbladder removed 4 months after my RNY. I took 2-1/2 days off work. Now that it is done Lap, recovery is fast and almost pain free. Good luck. Paula
