Alcohol Question..

Sometimes on the weekends I like to have a drink now and then, and on special occasions. How long after surgery are we able to have alcohol again? And, what kind? I never drink hard stuff, just beer and things like Mikes Hard Lemonade...mmm! This is not real important, cause I could live without ever another drink ever, but sometimes it's nice to relax after a hard week at work with an ice cold beer..

Dr. Dan said a year, I think. After rny. Not sure if it is an issue with lap band. But I don't think many folks really miss it all that much, from what I gather. I kind of stopped drinking much anyway before sx because I was hypoglycemic, which sort of took the fun out of it (sweating and shaking after two drinks ...), so it is hard for me to judge whether I'll miss it more or not later on.

There is never a silly question Lisa, excuse me for butting in, I lived in Ohio untiI  after I married. Thought I would stop in  and I saw you were from Ravenna, I lived there, went to Brown Jr High( Is there still such a place?) My best  friend ever was a girl by the name of Ami Losh.( maiden name) I lost track of her  not long after the time you were born, always wondered if I could ever find her again,

Any way..about the drinking.. Most people that I know was told wait a year. and then do it at home and NEVER drive. because of obsorption differances alcohol will hit your blood stream FAST and hard. It will pass fairly quickly but one glass of wine can knock you on your butt. I have an occasional beer myself. at home. I love a blended Margarita . But one makes me goofy to the point of hardly able to see straight.

and most doctors take the gall bladder during the WLS. Thats odd to me.. Best of luck to you..Blessings

My youngest son was in Brown last year. He is now a Freshman at the High School. We are breaking ground on our new High School soon. That is so cool that you are From Ravenna. I live on Day St. by Portage Frosted Foods. I have lived here for 13 years now.

My doctor wants to take my gallbladder out prior to WLS because I have had 3 C-Sections, and there may be some scar tissue that he needs to work around. He felt it would be better to take my gallbladder out first..

As for drinking..I thought that once I was able to have a drink again it would hit me hard. Actually that's better...it's cheaper now..lol Drinks can get quite pricey these days. Thanks for writing to me!

My health is more important than having a beer, so if my doc says never..I'll be fine with that. Thanks!!
