Yeah, I think I am as ready as I can be.  I stil have alot of anxiety and nerves LOL I am not worried about the surgery its the healing part that worries me the most.  I know that we aren't supposed to worry but the human in me causes me to worry.  I am having the BPD with a douadenal switch (sp).  I think I am ready to have it be over with.

Don't worry, the healing part will be over before you know it. Looks like you've chosed a great surgeon!! I've heard nothing but excellent feedback about Dr. Maguire, even from those who didn't have surgery with him. I wish I'd had him and the DS originally!!! Hindsight......

Good luck!

Jill, I almost went with the RNY and my mom talked me out of it.  Now that I have found this website, I am glad that I too chose the BPD/DS.  My mom had Dr. Rita for  her surgery but that was 3 years ago when they were together at Kettering Hospital.  My mom switched to Dr. Maguire after he did my sisters RYN 2 years ago.  I truly believe that Dr. Maguire saved my mom's life. (She had some complications after her surgery.)  Mostly what I like about the DS is that it is less maintainence after surgery and the weight loss is faster and lasts longer.

I think you've made a top notch decision!!! I wish I had been better informed when I had my surgery.  Yes, the maintenance definitely seems easier, from what I've read.

Your date is just around the corner!! You will be in my thoughts, please keep me posted.
