Newbie from Lima, Ohio

I just joined this website and I was wondering if anyone knew of any support groups for bariatric surgery in the Lima area.  I got the approval for my surgery and had my surgery date set for September 17th and then yesterday the surgeon's office called me to say that all surgeries are on hold due to a dispute of some kind between the surgeon and the hospital that I would be having the surgery at.  So, understandably I am very disappointed because I was due to begin the dietician appointments and now they don't even want me to continue with all the appointments that I have set up in order to have the surgery.   Instead of feeling bummed out and alone, I decided to surf the web for some support and found this website.  I know that I cannot do this alone and I need all the support I can get, and it seems like I found the right place for that!

Hi, I live in Dayton, and there is support groups here and also soom good surgeons, and hosp.  Haave you thought about travling a little.  If so Dr Rita Anderson is suppose to be one of the best.

Thanks, Mary, for letting me know about Dayton.  Right now I am scheduled? for the surgery in Findlay and they do have a support group there once a month, but it has been at times that I have not been able to get there.  I was just hoping to hear of something here in my town to see if it would work better with my schedule.  Thanks for letting me know about your surgeon.  I haven't given up on mine just yet, just a little bummed about the delay.  I am hoping to hear something about what's going on in the next week or so.  I keep trying to remember that there are probably others who were already supposed to undergo their surgery now and how disappointed they must be as well.

 I don't know about Lima, but my surgeon has a support group the first Wed of every month. There is actually one tomorrow night.  Everyone is welcome!!  Since you are having some issues with getting your surgery done, you may want to consider my surgeon.  He is one of the best and well known and you  can typically get your schedule quickly.  Since you are approved all you would have to do was see the dietician and you could be scheduled within 30 days of that.  Once I got my approval I had my surgery 2 weeks later.  Best of luck to you!!!!

Thanks so much for letting me know of your support group times and your surgeon.  I think I will wait  for a little bit and see what is going on with my surgeon, as I have done everything with them and until this they were doing quite well for me.  The other good thing is that Findlay is a little closer, but I will keep your surgeon in mind if I have to see about going to someone else.  My approval only lasts for six months and I was approved at the end of July, so I also have to keep that in mind as well.

There is one at Van Wert Hospital the beginning of each month...I'm not sure if its Tues or Thursday, but if you call there, they would be able to tell ya......

I am new to the Ohio board but not new to OH. I live in Anna, Ohio and drive to Findlay twice a week for work. I had lap-band in May of 07 but have a mother in law and friend who has had RYN. Was wondering if you found a support group. I need a group also, had my surgery in Columbus and have been looking for a good one around Lima also. Maybe we could get together.

 I haven't found any support groups in Lima as of yet, and I am still waiting to hear from my surgeon's office about rescheduling my procedure.  Maybe we could eventually get a group going here in Lima.
