my PS is done -- good and bad

My panniculectomy is done (I'm still staying at my mom's so she can help with my puppy, mostly... and because I'm still walking like a 90-year old!)

He did a really good job with the panni removal.  Even with the incision being fresh (and still covered with some blood and about a 100 steri-strips), it looks good.  No weird puckering like some I have seen and no evidence of "dog ears" at the end of the incision.  (My incision looks like a giant smile, very low at the center and, unlike some, goes all the way to the outer sides of my hip bones... just past where the seams of pants would be.)

Unfortunately, when he looked at the results of my venogram he decided that he just could NOT do the mons lift since SO much of the blood flow across my pelvis around the area of a previous clot would have to be cut off.  So that area still hangs just as much as it did before.  Pretty depressed about that. ..  apparently I am going to be stuck wearing nothing but skirts and tunic-length shirts/sweaters over pants even one I lose all the weight.

Two of the three nurses I had while in the hospital told me that they were really impressed with this surgeon's work... one is even having him do some work on her daughter or niece or something (don;t remember because of the drugs!) because the scar will be someplace it shows and she has been so impressed with his incisions.

Ok, back to the recliner and some more vicodin for me,,,

Hi, Darlin'!

Glad to hear you are home and on the good drugs!   So sorry that the mons lift couldn't be completed for you ... I know you were really hoping it could be.  (((HUGS)))

On the bring side, sounds like your panni removal went beautifully!

And as someone else said ... it says a lot about your surgeon that he wouldn't do anything to endanger you.  Still, I know it sucks for you.  ((((HUGS))))

Thanks for letting us know how it went, and how good the surgeon was. I am sorry you didn't get everything you'd hoped, but he sounds like a "first do no harm" sort of guy, and that makes a big difference. Maybe compression undies will do the trick once the panni heals?
