Kettering Bariatrics/ Dr. Trivedi
I notice the majority of the Dayton area people used Dr Anderson as their surgeon. I was just curious if anyone has used Trivedi at Kettering Bariatrics. I've seen a few random posts, but not as many as for Anderson. Or if anyone had gone to both semiars and picked Anderson over Kettering Bariatrics, why?
Dr. Trivedi wasn't around when I had open RNY almost 5 years ago. Doc Rita was with Dr. Maquire before he moved to Miami Valley. I went to 2 different docs info sessions before I picked Drs. Anderson & Maquire. Just because you don't see a lot of post doesn't mean that they are not as popular or as good. You just have to research a little harder sometimes. You might want to go to a support meeting and meet people who have had both docs.

Yeah, what Robin said. Even Dr Schumacher is relatively new to WLS in Dayton. Anderson and Maguire have been around the longest. Sycamore's program is also a Center of Excellence, so I am sure you are in good hands. I *did* do info sessions with both Maguire and Anderson (I did the one with Maguire right before he moved to Miami Valley), and it was very interesting to see the differences.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Dr Trevidi did my rny 4/23/08 . . . great guy to work with. His physician assistant -- Jerod Grogg is first class.
I had mine at Sycamore -- great people to work with.
Not so impressed with my nutrionist or excercise therapist . . . I learn more from the OH board than from them.
I would go to Dr Trevidi again..... if you need anymore info feel free to pm me.

I met with 3 surgeons in the area before making my decision -- Anderson, Schumacher and MacGuire.
In the end, I went with Anderson for a few reasons:
1) I know about 12 people in the area who have had some form of weight loss surgery. Out of those 12, 9 have been very successful long term and 3 weren't. The 9 that have been successful all had Anderson as their surgeon.
2) Her bedside manner. I found it to be much more my style than some of the others. With me, she was educational, direct (not wishy-washy), gave me good guidance on selecting a surgery type, and supported me emotionally as well.
3) Her office staff. I found them incredible from Day 1.
4) Her track record. Her mortality and complications stats were very good.
5) She seemed to stress post-op care (counseling, support groups, nutrition and exercise) and compliance more than the others I considered. As she says, "we do surgery on your stomach, not your brain" so it's important that all of those factors are addressed. I liked how "straight up" she was with me about what commitment would be needed from ME for me to be successful.
Best of luck in making your selection!
