Hello,

I have been with the Bariatric Group at Mt. Carmel West for over a year now.  I can honestly say that Dr. Patricia Choban is the surgeon of choice.  She is well educated in Lap Band and RNY.  Also, the majority of other doctors out there know of her or have heard nothing but good things about her.

She is very down to earth and easy to talk too.  From personal expereience, I wouldn't want anyone else to do my surgery.  Dr. Choban is the one for me and she could be for you as well.

Good Luck!

I am currently waiting on my surgery date. I have my approvals through both my insurance carriers (i am so excited).  I live in Toledo but I am going to Dr. Price for my surgery.  The program there is awesome. The people there are so helpful.   I have also heard very good things about Dr Choban.  When I did my 2hr class many of the other people in the program were going with Dr. Choban.  I have heard that it takes a lot longer to get a surgery date with Dr. Price.  He does a lot of other surgeries relating to cancer.  But I met with him a couple of  times and I am willing to wait. I really feel my life is in good hands.

I also want to say that Charlene the coordinator is one awesome lady.  She has always called me right back when I had questions.  She has made this whole process so much easier for me espeicailly since I have a lot of my pre-testing done here in Toledo.  It really makes a difference when you have people who truly care and are helpful.  This is not an easy process to go through as many of us know.

Good luck to you as you start your process.

I am currently awaiting a surgery date for lab band with Dr. Choban. I had previously completed Ohio State's bariatric program, but had a lot of trouble with their staff, (2 coordinators in 6 mns), getting things done in a timely manner. When my ins. starting participating with Mt. Carmel's program, I jumped at the chance to have Dr. Choban do my surgery and I switched over from Ohio State.  It is the best thing I have ever done. Mt. Carmel's staff have been great and very, very helpful and I have 100% confidence in Dr. Choban. She is so easy to talk to and very down to earth. In my opinion, their program is wonderful!

I was going to go to Mount carmel and I did go to the orientation everyone is right Dr. choban is awesome she has so much confidence in herself. Everyone was asking questions about various health conditions they had and she was like I am not worried so either should you. That is nice to have a dr. standing in front of you telling you she is that good that she can almost quarantee your surgery will be fine. She had no problem answering questions either they asked and she didnt have to think twice about the answer. The orientation you go in meet with the surgeon   in a big room with bunch of other people. The doctor discusses what the different surgeries and the pro's and cons of them. They bring out several others to talk one of which had surgery a few years ago at Mount Carmel and she talks to everyone and answers questions as well. They bring in some other people one is an insurance person who answers your questions about your insurance approval. I decided to go to Miami Valley hospital with Dr. Teel I am meeting him on Monday. I wish you luck and yes Mont Carmel seems great and the doctors seem very knowledgable and caring.

I had both Choban and Price operate on me  (I had a 1 in a 1000 complication) ....and they are both excellent. Price is a very talented surgeon. I am very grateful for him. And Dr Choban is great too. The hospital staff on 4 tower and 7 tower were great. Very caring angels.

I had Dr. Price for lapband surgery in March and I've had no problems at all. I also know many who have had Dr. Choban in the Mt. Carmel group and love her too. I now also see Dr. Miller for my aftercare and fill visits and I've also been very happy with him.  There are actually a group of Mt. Carmel folks who hang out under a different website link I'll include here if you want to check that out.

Just passed my 5 month post op date and I'm 50 lbs down and doing great after my 3rd fill.
