hi nikki...hang in there you will make it through this time....the end results will be astonishing!!! not sure what the optifast diet is but can you have sf popsicles? you can chew them if you have the urge to chew...also you can make some ice chips out of crystal light and make ice chips out of them...just keep thinking how you will look when you get your weight off...i looked at people's before and after pictures for months and it helped me!! you might try that...also i read many profiles to see how they did....keep coming back here for support and remember no question is a silly one!!!

hugs

Hang in there, and keep in mind that after surgery you will be allowed to eat again (well, eventually).  I was glad that my surgeon has her patients start on soft foods only 48 hours after surgery... I cannot imagine having to do 4-6 weeks of liquids post op (and see no reason to, quite honestly). I did not have any trouble adjusting to eating post-op... started with soft foods right after surgery (after half a day of ice chips only and about a day and a half of clear liquids) and slowly added in new things according to the food lists I got from my surgeon.  Just remember to focus on eating protein, take small bites, and CHEW WELL! How long was your pre op diet, and what was it?

All I had to do was a low-fat and low-sugar diet for 2 weeks post op (I broke it once for my birthday meal at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Columbus) and then liquids-only for 2 days before surgery.  I had open surgery, though, and knew it would be open, so shrinking my liver (usually the reason for the pre-op diet) was not as much of a concern.  Lora

Nickki,I am on my last day of a 6 week Optifast diet. It went faster than I had anticipated. I lost 27 pounds. I was neveractually hungry. I spaced my 7 "meals" out through the day. I also made them intersting my adding spice to the soups and maybe soem hot sauce. The vanilla drink was so flexible. I added sugar free syrups. My favorite was orange Sunkist mixed with ice and vanilla drink in the Magic Bullet. It made a creamsicle. Once you are in a pattern it gets easier. -- Tom from Akron
