ANXIOUS
just starting out and have learned the only co-morbidity i have a chance of qualifying for is if my sleep study shows severe obstructive sleep apnea since my bmi is only 36 even though i am still 100lbs overweight. i dont know what im gonna do if dare i say im not obstructing enough its like i have to apologize for not being "sick' enough. wow just feeling lots of despair. cigna insurance is the hardest to get thru i hear. does anyone know of selfpay options etc. thanks rambling i know.
My husband qualified due to sleep apnea and reflux/heartburn. He is on stomach medication and sleeps with a c-pap machine. We have Anthem through my employer and he used Dr.Trivedi. Both the insurance company and the doctors office were wonderful through the whole qualifying process.
Sorry I can't help you on the self pay option. I have a friend who is self-paying. She had to pay costs upfront, and there was no discount. I have heard other doctors are much more lenient and willing to work with you though. (she is using Dr.Anderson I think, in Kettering)
Hang in there!

dawn...the sleep apnea should be enough to qualify you for surgery--it was what put me thru and that was atsecond appeal..(the dr's office had not included that in first info!grr)
i was a "lightweight" too and there are folks --drs insurance and even ppl on the boards-who will make you feel that you aren't "sick enough" or "fat enough"--don't let them into your head!!!! each of us has our own story and yours will play out in the best for you i hope!
the waiting for approval is the worst part i believe of any wls......read and be informed and keep your sense of humor cuz yuou're gonna need it!!!!
hugs and prayers, margo
