Just something to think about

I have had some major issues with my WLS. I basically have had 3 revisions and have still gained weight. I still have a lot of the same health problems - depressions, sleep apnea knees back etc. SO would I do it again. Yes. Because without it I might be 700 lbs and dead. I might have triple the high blood pressure. I might not be able to walk. I might be housebound or worse.  I am having to remember to be grateful for this chance. I have a life. It may not be the best but I am living it.  I weigh 385 lbs from 560. I am able to walk reasonably well. I have a job that I am learning to like. I have two great children and a fantastic ex wife who is a good mother to them.  So even with the health problems - Life is good. You just have to remember where you might have been with WLS Just my two cents worth. Take it for what it is worth

Congrats on you wt. loss.  How is Dr. Ruddy?  I use to work with him at one of his hospitals.  He did my gallbladder back in 93.  I had Dr. Rodriguez at Deaconess Hospital do my open TNY 10mos  ago, have lost 110lbs and am in a plateau for the past 2 weeks.  I need to increase my exercise, but I struggle to do it.  I had complications during surgery, nothing critcal but devistating nonetheless.  Unfortunately, not all of our health problems totally disappear after surgery as you have experienced. You have a great attitude and you are right.  It is so important to focus  on the non scale victories, it helps us to remember that this journey is not about the number on the scale...  enjoy the children, they grow so fast... mine are grown now....

I haven't seen him since he did my gallbladder and gastrectomy in 2004. I have like 3 revisions if you count that one. WIth the last one he separated the old and new stomach and it still stretched. I have lost 160 total but I am still a candidate. I guess I am just destined to be big. He did my gallbladder and it hurt worse than the RNY's he did.  I am anemic now still. We are getting tested for that coming up.  The trees, as I call my kds are 22 and 18. Wonderful boys. They grow up so fast. I am enjoying my life such as it is.
