Hello...I just moved here to Wickliffe Ohio last weekend and was wondering if there are any of you close by? Is there a support group that meets near Wickliffe?

I had my lap RNY October 17th 2006 in Grand Rapids MI and am down 144 pounds so far. Doing good with the loss but am at a stand still off and on since last July. Hopefully with my new life here in Ohio things will start to move once again!

Looking forward to hearing from you and meeting some too!!

Hugs

Welcome.  I'm not sure where Wickliffe is, either (so it's obviously not in the Dayton/Cincinnati area), but there are support groups all over the place.  Perhaps you could find a surgeon near you and call to ask them if they have post-op support groups? Congratulations on the 144 pounds!  (How much more were you hoping to lose?) Glad to have you with us. Lora

Hi Lora and thanks for the welcome!! I am located east of cleveland and trying to learn where more towns are. I guess you are right about calling WLS Drs to see if there are any support groups near me.

I started out at 344 pounds and lost the 144 so far I guess I am happy being at this weight but I would like to have a few more gone...I was told to imagine the extra skin I have hanging and it being gone and then I would problably be at my goal. I can live with that. I hate the bat wings though!!!

Again thanks for the welcome!!!

I'm sure there that must be several post-op support groups somewhere in the Cleveland area!   I started at 332 as my highest weight, and am down 145 pounds, so we have pretty similar stats.  I'm just now 10 months out and am hoping my PS is right about losing 15-20 pounds when I have the panniculectomy on a couple of weeks.  Yeah, the bat wings.... ugh.  The women on the side of the family that I take after all had heavy arms (even when they were just oevrweight rather than obese) so I knew I was doomed.  I'm trying to save enough money to be able to get the bat wings removed this winter. that really stinks on the heavy arms in the family!!! but like i said i can live with them flapping away for having better health now....but if i ever come into some money i am getting them done along with the tummy tuck and maybe the legs too!!!! wishful thinking....lol

i wish you the best of luck and i will keep looking for a support group!!!

Welcome welcome!

I take it you are in the Wickliffe in Lake County, not the one in Mahoning County.  There is a middle Ohio group that meets in Macedonia, OH on the second Sunday of the month.  It's pretty much straight down 271 about 25 miles for you.  Is that close enough?

I'm glad you touched base!

Judy welcome to Ohio.  I am in the City of Cleveland.  To me Wickliffe is not far, just out 90.   The Cleveland Clinic and St. Vincent Charity have support groups.  I am going to try Charity...both these locations are downtown.  I'm not sure when though...I am 20 days post surgery  Ellen
