Laproscopic Incision Pain

I would like to know if anyone can tll me how long the incision pain on my left side should last "post surgery".  I had my Lap Rouen-Y on Monday 6/23/08, came home on Thursday evening 6/26/08.  They removed the JP drain prior to my leaving.  I have been changing the bandage daily and everything looks good (no puss/infection and under a dime size of drainage. However, the incision directly below my left breast (and directly above my drain incision) is extremely painful and feels as though when I move it is on fire/burns. Otherwise, all is well and no problems or fever.  Any advice would be most helpful.  Thanks, Lisa

I remember having a really bad pain in my lfet side after open rny in 2003. I was told it was from laying on the OR table and the way they have to move things around and that it just takes time for the insides to heal. Just make sure your doc know about and they can adjust pain meds and then you can take OTC for it as well. Mine lasted for about 2-3 weeks or so. I was told to think of it as pulled muscles that need time to get better.  Like I said just make sure your doc know so that they can rull out anything else.  Good Luck,  Robin

I am almost 3 weeks post op and I have the same issue. Its better everday though. Its my largest incision. My doctor said its healing well and should be fine in another week. Hope this helps!

My same incision was the same way. I went in for my 3 week check and they said a suture was trying to come out. I was told to hold warm compresses on it 4 times a day. It did drain for about 2 weeks after but then it was fine. Try doing the warm compresses 4 times a day for 10 minutes.  Good luck and God bless.
