I *think* I have found a PS for panni removal
Based on the info from the woman who answered the phone, it looks like I have FINALLY found a local PS who will accept my insurance for the panni removal (and whatever he has to do to the area "below" it). I have an appt with him on Thursday, and will hopefully have a letter of medical necessity from my PCP to take in to him (and then he will add his own letter and submit to Aetna for approval).
NOW... I just need to keep my fingers crossed that Aetna will approve it (and will do so quickly), and that his office will go ahead and contact Dr. Anderson's office so they can go ahead and see if they can both find a day/time that will work for this surgical tag-team match. (Because my job is ending at the end of May (and I will lose my short-term disability coverage), I need to get the hernia repair done by then.)
If Aetna denies the medical necessity of the panni removal (or does not approve it in time), or if the PS and Dr Rita can't coordinate a date in May, I will just have her do the hernia repair now and will have to pursue the panni removal later in the summer... but I really did NOT want to have to have two separate surgeries. Especially since i have to looking for (and starting, hopefully) a new job.
How amazingly frustrating and stressful. I cannot TELL you how much better I will feel (emotionally AND physically) if I can get the panni removal done. Yes, I will still end up with loose skin once I am done losing the weight, but I can live with that much more easily than having "things" bounce and get in the way when I try to exercise... or, uh, do other things ;). I know that limiting my exercise (because of the flopping and the hernia) is part of the reason my weight loss rate has slowed down.
