ISO Columbus Area support group

Is there a support group in Columbus?  I would love to get some support, incite from peeps who have walked this mile or are just starting out like me on my  WLS adventure.

I'm with you...I've been wondering the same thing myself!

Have you picked a doctor or hospital yet?....most of the places that do weight loss surgery have support groups. I went to have my surgery done by Dr. Myer's (Fresh Start). He does his surgery out of  Riverside Hospital in Columbus. They have a support group that meets every second Tuesday of the month....hope this helps.... Dave

Hi Dave, just a quick correction, the fresh start support groups are held every 3rd Tuesday of the month.

That's great if you are having your surgery in Columbus.  I will be going to Cleveland or Dayton....  Well, I guess we could start one. I do have a gift shop, although it is attached to a cupcake bakery. So it would probably be best if it were at a safer location.

I take it you don't live in Columbus...

No I do live in columbus, but I am not having the surgery here. I have an insurance/Columbus/VSG conflict... I will be doing this out of town, and wont belong to any of the local clinics. Dayton and Cleveland are a little too far.

You are welcome to come to the Fresh Start support groups even if your surgery is done elsewhere. There are a few women that come to the RNY meeting that had surgery at another clinic across town. I know that Mt. Carmel also opens their doors to anyone.

I understand where you are coming from. I live in the Richmond Dale Area. I am atually in pike co, but 20 mins to Chillicothe, Jackson or Waverly. I do not believe any of these towns have a support group!! I am currently trying to work with a doctor out of Dayton. It is just to far to drive, for SG meetings!!! I hope you can find one, and if anyone knows of one in my area, please let me know!!

Just because you have the surgery outside of Columbus doesn't mean you can't have the support group here. I'm a support person for someone that's having their surgery in another area. Alot of people that I help support are not in the area. We just meet once every two weeks and do our own meetings that way.
