Check up after 2 years out
My surgeon is no longer seeing us patients, am not sure why, was given all kinds of different reasons...But anyways, I had my surgery 2 years ago, should I be seeing a specialist for a check up every so often ??? Or is seeing my family doctor sufficient???
Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only TRUE FRIENDS will leave footprints in your heart...And may that friendship have such a ONENESS that when one weeps the other will taste salt...Friends are like balloons ; once you let them go you can't get them back....So I'm going to tie you to my heart so I never lose you.
Hmm... that's odd. Is he still doing WLS but just not following up with former patients or is he not doing WLS-related things at all?
I guess who you should be seeign depends on how familiar your family doctor is with post-WLS issues. Mine is not at all familiar with such things, but others may be better informed. I would think that, for the sake of your safety and health, you should probably see a surgeon occasionally for labs, etc. (although your PCP can probably get a list of the things that (s)he needs to check for...)
Don't know how much help that was...!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Everything that I get from the surgeon also goes to my pcp, whether that is instructions, schedules, or lab results. My surgeon is the one who wants to see me for follow ups up to FIVE years, but the pcp is kept apprised for overall health and health support reasons.
Perhaps your pcp has information like this and can help you figure out what you need to do and order the bloodwork or whatever?
