Anthem PPO

Is there anyone out there in the cincy area with any info on Anthem PPO, and how they work. Also your experiences in dealing with them.

Hi John, I did get some info about Anthem, what I found is that ALL Anthem is NOT the same. I have Anthem PPO BC/BS Blue Access. Even if you have that it still may be different. It all depends on what is required my Anthem and your employer. On my particular plan I can only go to a certain hospital. My plan has very strict criteria as far as the facility and surgeon goes. Which is a good thing. I can only go to Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincy. Dr. Kerlakian is the surgeon there. I have done some extensive research on them and the surgeon. They apparently have a program that is INCREDIBLE, pre-opt and post-opt. I actually called the surgeon's office and got scheduled for the seminar that is a 1st step must. John I am new to all this, but what I have found out is, to get your information first hand. Call Anthem and ask them for yourself, they were very helpful. I was even told that my plan has a distinct phone # to call that will be in effect in Jan. It's called Blue Distinction. I hope some of this helps you.

I am in Cols area and have Anthem PPO Blue Access, I'm looking for info also.

I live about 2 hours southeast of Columbus. I have the same insurance. I would check out the program at OSU. Dr. Mikami is really nice and I am looking forward to having him do my surgery.

As others have already stated, not all Anthem policies are created equally. I was approved in a couple of months for a DS and DH was approved in about 6 wks. However, we apparantly have an excellent policy as I know of several with written exclusions. It is best to contact your individual carrier. HTH Kim
