WOW! I would love to live where you live. I live near Washington DC. I like where I live because there are lots of bike paths and walking trails; my house backs onto the woods and a creek; I have a fox friend who visits me (from a safe distance) in my backyard; the squirrels practically scratch at my back door every day at lunchtime to get their peanuts; and probably some other things I'm forgetting to mention. But sometimes I feel like a fish out of water here, too. I've lived here for 22 years. I was born in DC.
I'm with you, Anne. I would live in NYC in a heartbeat. Seriously, if someone called me tonight I would be on my way up there immediately with a little duffel bag. The prices where I live are comparable to NYC except for gasoline and cigarettes. The cigarette thing wouldn't bother me because I don't smoke. The gas, well, I just wouldn't have a car!
I'm talking myself into moving to NYC...
Six or seven years ago I took my son to see the live show Walking With Dinosaurs. While it's a wonderful time for kids, I found it to be great for adults too! Anyone with a geekly bent would love it, I think. And let's face it: every kid loves dinosaurs, and some of us never really grow out of that!
The show has been touring the world since then, but is coming back to North America for 2014. I highly recommend it for kids of all ages. The husbeast and I have planned a trip to Kansas City, which is the closest venue to us that the tour will be stopping at. If you get the chance, by all means go and enjoy!

What has worked for you to stop the chaffing of the inner thighs and scrotum? I am heading to Disney world in July and want to avoid this problem. I am 7 weeks post op so the obvious weight loss is in progress but I am still going to be big. Probably pushing 400 at time of trip.

Amen to that. I very nearly had a heart attack at the price tag the first (and only) time I saw copper river salmon for sale in Tucson :'(

One of the very few things I miss about not living in Houston anymore is the lack of fresh seafood. In Houston, you get so much fresh from the Gulf.
I knew I had moved to the Midwest when I saw shrimp for 16.99 a pound, instead of the 4.99 I used to pay at Fiesta!

LOL Seriously! Honestly, since I've moved to the southwest (I'm in Arizona) I'm not about to waste ANY kind of fish, we get the good stuff so seldom! So whenever I visit my parents in Washington or my extended family in Minnesota or NW Iowa, I have to get all I can :)

Ah, we can't get mahi-mahi here either. And I'm sure as hell not gonna waste good walleye trying it! LOL!

You can do "mock hakarl" using mahi-mahi.
Don't ask me how I know this.

That's awesome that you have a garden at your camper. I imagine it'd be hard to can in a camper. I know when I do it my large kitchen is scattered with stuff.
Cucumbers do that to you. They grow really fast. Just like zucchini! Those things are crazy!
