Yes, it does but Elizabeth Bathory lived in Hungary in the early 1600's.  Madame Delphine Lalaurie lived in the late 1700's to early 1830's.  Bathory was prolific in that she is rumored to have killed over 300 girls.  She was only caught because she started to kill the "upper crust" girls and it got noticed.  Madame lalaurie tortured and killed slaves.  I totally get what you mean, though.

Aaaah it seemed very similar. Like where Elizabeth bathed in blood to stay young. Lalaurie used blood like that that, too in AHS.

Amy-

I don't know if the bathing in blood thing is true on LaLaurie's part in real life but she sure as hell did it on AHS.  I frigging LOVE that show!!!!!!  BTW- hope I didn't come off as a "know at all"- I have a BA in Forensic Psych and did papers on a lot of these peeps and I can be a little dry about it.

Nope - didn't come across that way at all! I didn't even know that LaLaurie was a real person, so thanks! :)

I enjoyed my forensic classes!  My minor was sociology so I took classes like soc of violence, death and dying, and social problems.  For my actual major I got to take goodies like criminal psych, forensic psych, victimology, and forensic law.  Now that I am getting a second degree I am psychoanalyzing Alexander the Great, Tiberius, Caligula, Nero, etc... Lol.

I had no idea that LaLaurie was a real person.  After I read your post, I googled her and it's true.  There's even a tour that goes by the house she lived in in New Orleans.  Here I thought they were completely beyond the pale for creating that character, and now I find out they based it on a real person.  Wow.

I read an expert on serial killers who said she was a mass murderer not a serial killer. He explains the difference pretty well. I guess because of the motives is a huge part of the difference. I wish I could think of his name. I read his book and it was good. He was one of the founders for the BAU in the FBI.

Here's a history book chapter about Madame LaLaurie..

Madame La Laurie

This is blood curdling - and that her husband and her/ooops!,meant "she"  did such atrocious torture to slaves in Pre-Civil War New Orleans.

I agree with the mention of Dennis nilson.

Not the most well known or even body count but probably some of the most bizarre and intriguing psychological issues.

The idea of killing for company is a very disturbing but fascinating concept.

I have a few great serial killer stories if anyone is interested.  My neighbor, Roberta, had a friend who worked at the post office with David Berkowicz.  She said during the summer of 1977 a group of postal workers were sitting in a group talking about the "Son of Sam" and Berkowicz happened to be in the group.  A few of the women expressed fear and Berkowicz said "oh, I think you all will be just fine."

Another neighbor, Harvey, had a cousin who was killed by David Berkowicz.  Her name was Sandy Moskowitz.  Harvey was also friends with Irene Silverman.  Silverman was murdered by infamous grifters Sante and Kenny Kimes.

I figure with the amount of people I know that have had run-ins with bad people, statistically, I am safe.  LOL.
