pet peeves
I've always loved this quote from James Nicoll: The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse ***** We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and riffle their pockets for new vocabulary.

LOL there really is no "English". Latin + Celtic + Saxon + Viking + Noman + every refugee group ranging from Huguenot to Eastern European; add in a sprinkling of all the ex-colonies, esp India. My son in law speaks Welsh and that is probably more pure than "English".
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
People who stop in the middle of the parking lot to check their phone (happened to me 30 minutes ago) and don't even look up when have to pass them.
People with their cell phone to their ear while driving - they will either drive too slowly, not stay in the same lane, or worse.
Walmart.
Grocery store line where the person in front of you checks every item as it's scanned, sends the cashier for a price check, and then waits for the total before they pull their checkbook out of their purse.
Checkbooks. Haven't you heard of check cards?
Ugly Americans. If you don't know what that is, it's an American overseas that behaves badly, sometimes acting entitled, usually loud, always obnoxious. I was on vacation with someone once in another country and she went ballistic because this little Mom and Pop store out in the country wouldn't accept her American dollars. When I questioned her as to why they should being we weren't exactly in Kansas anymore, she said "because they live off our tourist dollars".
Walmart. It deserves to be on the list twice.

Amen to #2! My dad commutes to work by bike every day, and he almost got squashed on Monday by somebody in an SUV who was so busy yapping on their cell phone to notice a red light. There are apps out there that will disable calls if you're going over 10 MPH, I'm starting to think those should be mandatory for some people.

VSG 2013, RNY conversion 2019 due to GERD. Trendweight here!
Gum chewers, especially snapping.
People who hum. I was going to say hummers but I thought that might be misconstrued. My boyfriend hums and it drives me crazy.
People who won't let you into the lane when I get on the freeway and the lane I am in ends or is exit only. I try to slow down to get in behind them and they get slower so I speed up to get in front of them and they speed up to stay right next to me. It's like they have some kind of perverse pleasure in watching to sweat.
Knuckle cracking.
Liars (hate em!)

Bad drivers.
Piss poor prosecutors that won't take a case to the Grand Jury unless it is a slam dunk for a conviction usually from a plea bargain.
Having to drive over forty miles one way for Starbucks.
Playing Blackjack with a group of players that don't follow basic strategy and their ignorance cost me money! I can accept losing if everyone understands the game and the cards just aren't coming like they need to but I can not stand losing money due to dumb ass!
Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
Another good post and I agree with everyone's pet peeves.
I don't have cotton issues but I can't stand to touch hamburger meat! LOL
Lastly, I wish people would treat their pets with dignity and have them live inside your home....including CATS! No reason, at all, for cats to live outdoors. There are litter boxes or just don't have a cat or dog if you can't take responsibility for them. It is cruel and inhumane to these animals.
Oops, one more...people should wear arm anti-persperent...

My cat is indoor/outdoor, she can alwasys come home, but she loves outside. I try to make she is home every night .., but sometimes she may be out. My friends have outdoor cats. They were feral that adoptedf them. The cats get food and fresh water. They have place tohide when is cold or wet. They have been fixed.... Sometimes outdoor cats have great life..better than being put asleep in a shelter.. (My friends are allergic to cats so they casnt take them in).
