things people say who just don't get it

I haven't actually had anyone say anything to me..but I saw a post on my Facebook page the other day about the new lunch menu's for the kids that pay for/qualify for lunch at schools. Mind you, I live in TN and some of the families are very poor..that lunch may be the best meal they get all day..but the stuff I was reading kinda blew my mind. They wanted max calories to keep their kids weight up and didn't care how that happened and were very put out that the new guidelines for kids school lunches is to include more fruit and veggies.

Some people just don't get it, not just about food but about anything. I guess they do it to make themselves feel better, but it sure can be painful. But damned if I'm going to give my power away and let them sabotage me!

I'm grateful that most everyone around me is supportive and encouraging- I've learned the hard way to surround myself with people like that who have my back. Sometimes someone will say something clueless, but that's just because they are unaware. 

My mother was clueless. But she did mean well. I miss her so much.
