Congrats on your surgery!  Sounds like you had a great experience and your doctors were supportive.  I hear you on the PCP's that don't want to hear "gastric bypass" - I had a female one two years ago and she was 5'8" ish - 120lbs - model material.  She just said "you need to exercise more".  I dropped her rather quickly :)

I wish you continued success, you are off to an awesome start!!

Hi,

I am far from being experienced about "shrinking" but my Yahoo WLS group states you should go back on the post-op diet for 1-2 weeks to help get you back on track.  Then go from there...treat yourself like you just had surgery and are starting out all over again.  They all say it has helped them.

Hi Paula - I don't know which surgeon  you are going through, but maybe you could call the program/office manager of the surgeon to help get the process moving?

I go to Academic Medicine Services at the Dent Tower...they were fairly quick, etc.

Good luck!

If anyone is interested contact me through here and I'll tell you how to go about seeing photos of the items.

Hi All, I recently moved from the Albany area to Rochester. I am looking for a new weight loss surgery friendly PCP and a gastric bypass surgeon for follow-up care. I just over one year out from my surgery - not having any problems right now but if I do, I want to make sure I have a place to call. My insurance is Excellus Bluepoint 2 - I have tried looking on their website but it's pretty bad.

Dr. Kurian is an excellent doc & person.  She used to be with Lenox Hill.  And despite that article in the Post NYU docs are top notch.

all the best to you.

Hello everyone,
We started a Monring meeting group in Vestal for those whose work, life schedules make attending an evening meeting difficult.  So the fourth Wednesday of every month (this Wednesday in fact May 26) at 9:30 a.m. at the Vestal Library.  I have some great samples of some new protein waters, bariatric supplements and powders to share as well as the current ObesityHelp magazine.  This group is open to all people who have either had bariatric surgery or are interested in the process.
Also bonus for those who want to support local farmers, Wednesday mornings is when the Vestal Farmers Market is open in the Library Parking Lot.  Fresh local produce makes me happy!
Looking forward to seeing some new faces.

Topic: WLS friendly PCP in Buffalo area?
My surgeons office has been ready to send in my insurance paperwork for over a month, but my primary doctor keeps holding things up.  All I need from him is the stupid letter of medical necessity which I've been seeing him about since January.  I'm sick of his delays, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a doctor in the Buffalo area that is very WLS friendly and would be easy to get a letter from?
