Hi
I eat about 4 or 5 oz of food at a time.
If I go out to eat, I usually order fish and I can have about 4 bites and some veggies and then feel really full. I have a hard time digesting pasta and breads, so I usually get rice.
Just remember, your stomach is very small, so give your self plenty of time to eat and once you feel full stop. In the beginning I used to have a SUDUKO book that I used during meals to slow down. In between each bite I would try to solve a square. I guess a magazine or a book would work too, read a paragraph before taking the next bite. Sometimes I think I still eat too fast... I still drink a protein shake for breakfast and make sure to take a multivitamin.
Let me know if you want more info.... Remember "little bites"!

OMG that doesnt sound like the office I went too!!! I had Dr. Cole as my surgeon but he wasnt refered to me another Dr from his practice was. I met with the Dr. I was refered to and when I left I didnt feel comfortable with him and didnt want him doing the surgery. I called the office and told them I was not happy with that surgeon and I wanted Dr. Cole and they asked me why and I said because I want my surgery to be done open and Ive heard about Dr. Coles reputation as a surgeon and I felt more comfortable wanting to meet him for the surgery. They told me well its a 2 month wait to see him and I said thats fine l will wait the 2 months to see him and I did just that. They didnt sound pleased with me wanting to change surgeons but its my body my decision not anyone elses and frankly I didnt care who I pissed off.
So long and behold I met with Dr. Cole and the rest is history! I love the man for saving my life and taking good care of me and I could not possibly say one bad thing about him. Sometimes the office woman could be alittle touchy but no matter what you feel comfortable with who you want to do your surgery and with your surgeon....its a very important component in finding what works for you. I wish you good luck in finding a surgeon.

I live near Watkins Glen/Ithaca area. Albany is quite a drive for me. How do you handle all of the pre-ops/ nutritionist/ psych/ etc.? Can most of that be consolidated as much as possible? Does anyone know of another surgeon that would be closer for me?
Also, I know I won't be driving there weekly for support meetings. Can you go to a local one, or only the one for your surgeon?
I am sure that I only want the VSG. I know all procedures are good, but VSG just seems right for me.
Wow - this is a lot of work. Deciding to have the surgery. Deciding what kind. Finding a surgeon, in your location, then dealing with the insurance!
I have Tri-Care - I called them today. They said have a consultation, let the surgeon send in the request with all the medical codes, then sit back and wait. I qualify for it, but they may not cover the VSG.
Anyway, thank you all. And congratulations all over the place!!
Oh - is it Dr. Dunnican or Dunnucan?
Take Care, Lee
