Let me recommend a book that seems to have become invaluable to pre (and newly post) ops....

Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies.

There is part 2 coming in October - Weight loss Surgery recipies for dummies....That book is written by our very own bariatric chef - Dave Fouts.  He is amazing in his talks and recipies.  He is a gourmet chef who had bariatric surgery....I have it pre-ordered on Amazon already...

Also, my Finace is from Huntington.  I'll have her contact you....She is an OH support group leader...and my personal inspiration to staying on track!

Has anyone done surgery with Dr. Hamdi at Orange Regional Medical Center or Dr. Cerebona in Westchester.  If so what was your experience like and if you have any other names to suggest it would be much appreciated.  I live in Middletown, NY and do not want to travel too far mainly for post op follow up, nutrition and support groups.

No, They are different. The sleeve doens't mal absorb.

In any event it's important that you monitor your lab results. I forgot that as of friday I added a B1 suppliment. I got my labs back on thursday and everything was good with the exception of B1. So my nut suggested I add the B1.

Are the vitamin supplement requirements the same for the sleeve as gastric?  If so, you only take one multivitamin and one iron pill, per day?

The only Yogurt I eat is Chobani Greek Yogurt (Peach, or Strawberry). It has 14 g of protein. It has more sugar but I can tolerate it with my Sleeve. You may be need to be careful of the sugar content.

I take Baratric Advantage Multivitamin Daily (Morning), I also Take BA Iron Pills (before bed).

Your food plan is perfect, although don't worry, I'll check with the nutritionist.  This plan is straight forward and simple.  I'll go to the store tomorrow and gets lots of diet jello and broth.. it would never go to waste in my family.  I have heard that the greek yogurts are best?

Have you heard of the supplements sold by Celebrate.  I received a bunch of samples and will try them tomorrow.  How many supplements (pills) do you take each day?

I printed your diet and will tack it to my refrigerator.  Your help has made me feel like I can handle this.  Thanks so much.

The one thing I have found out from this board is that every Dr. has a different diet plan pre op as well as post op. For example I was on liquids for a month after my surgery. I read other people that were eating food a week or two after surgery.

Your best bet is to follow the nutrition guidelines from your doctors office. They should provide you with the right guidance. That being said I'll tell you that my wife whipped up a special broth combination. She used College Inn but she added alot of stuff and strained it out to give it more flavor.

Diet Sugar free Jello...I ate it plain.

I drank Diet Snapple Ice Tea (Lemon or Peach). Also drank Crystal Lite.

This was my first six week diet plan (office utilizes the same paln for both sleeve & RNY):

Week 1 & 2
  - Broth, Diet Jello & Water
  - High Protein Liquid Supplement ( < 10 grams of Carbohydrates)
  - Goal: 60 Grams of protein per day

Week 3 & 4
Add in (For 1 - 2 meals per day):
    - Low fat/nonfat yogurt
    - Low fat/nonfat cottage cheese
    - Low fat/nonfat ricotta cheese

Week 5
Add in Soft Protein Foods (for 1 - 2 meals per day):
    - String Cheese, Baby bell, Laughing cow
    - Re-fried beans
    - Lentil, Split pea or black bean soup
    - Miso or egg drop soup
    - Tofu

Week 6:
Add in (for 1 - 2 meals per day):
    - Chicken (soft, moist, fresh, canned, or thinly sliced deli. No BBQ or Fried)
    - Turkey  (soft, moist, fresh, canned, or thinly sliced deli. No BBQ or Fried)
    - Fish (soft, moist, fresh, canned or shellfish)
    - Egg (soft boiled, poached or scrambled) & if there is room 1/2 slice of toast
    - Small amounts of nonfat or low fat dressings to moisten food

Daily:
    - 50 - 60 ounces of water
    - 8 ounces of Crystal Light, Fruit2O, Diet Snapple or any low calorie/non-carbonated beverage
    - one cup of decaf tea or coffee (you can use splenda, sweet-n-low, nutra sweet, low fat milk.
