Lina,
I know they would like us to be 1 1/2 years out before getting preganet
but sometimes it just does not work that way.
Please call your surgeon so they can advise what you should do to take care of the health of your baby and yourself.....
CONGRATS hun, is this your 1st?.......
Debra P

One of my surgeon's patients got pregnant 5 months after surgery. He was very upset with her, because he prefers that we wait at least a year. Both she and her baby were fine and she continued to lose weight after the baby was born and didn't gain that much during pregnancy.
Follow all your doctor's instructions and good luck to you.

Lina:
First, it is common for wlsers to become highly fertile in the months of rapid wt loss, the hormones start flowing as estrogen that was stored in the fat cells is released into the bloodstream.....
Second, this isn't about okay or not, you are pregnant so seek medical advice on the road to be as healthy as you can for self and child (if that is what your choosing to go through with).
I would enlist the support of your bariatric surgeon, clinical nutrition MD and a high risk OBGYN, preferably onefamiliar w/ WLSers and the nutritional and vitamin deficiencies we face....
It is well doucmented that wlsers can have safe and healthy babies/pregnancies...if receiving proper care! Many surgeons request u wait 1-2 yrs but that is a mute poit your preg at 9 mo out....
So be s healthy as u can w/ protein, vits etc....Get regular folloup and labs! One word of caution, MANY stop losing wt and gain wt in this time! Remember the honeymoon to lose wt w/ wls is 6-12 mo.....So as far as that goes u may not lose more , may gain or may lose a little. That is just a fact (u do not have to gain 100# +/- as Carnie Wilson did mind you if you keep to healthy dietary/exercise habits!) They do say it is safer to have a baby 100# less than heavier the risks of birth defects or issues w/ mother are less as well! Keep us posted ok!
PS They do say stay clear from any Glucose tolerance testing, http://www.gastricbypass.com/GBP-Pregnancy-Download.htm the results are meaningless and it can be DANGEROUS due to our dumping!!!I have an article on that but it is on my computer that just crashed if I get it up and running I can send to u email me offlist!
