Evening Everyone, Just found out that I have severe sleep apnea. The testing came back stating that I stop breathing on the average 78 times an hour..... I have to go for the second test and it looks like it might interfere with my surgery date....April 25th. My pre surgery testing is the 13 of April and the apnea center has me scheduled for the 17. If an opening comes up sooner they will call me right away.... and and ok...this is not going to affect my mood...it is what it is...and like I always say....Do not quit five minutes before the miracle..... I will remain positive and open to God's schedule.... Hugs Susan

Susan - I used to work at a hospital with a sleep center (in computers, but I was a patient of the sleep center as well as an employee lol) ; so long as you have a flexible schedule for coming in last minute, you probably can get an earlier date.. I don't know if it would be early enough, but if you call and explain the situation, and express that you're willing to come in whenever you can (and tell them what limitations you might have), hopefully they'll work with you - Usually the second test is where they figure out what cpap/bipap mask might work for you and what pressures you need to mitigate/eliminate the apneas or hypopneas (stop breathing vs shallow breathing; both "count" towards the total usually) Good luck - ...Nick

don't worry about it. Mine is 84 times a min. I just had my Pre Op work done yesterday and the Anesthesia Doc just told me that there going to have to watch me very closly and that i will still have the tube in my throat when i start wake up. but it will be out when i'm about 50% awake. So as long as i'm breathing right. But she said that the sleep Ap. will not affect my surgery it just going to make them work a little harder

Susan, Hun I know how upsetting that is but try to look at it this way....Now you know and that is a good thing before going into surgery. ~hugs~ I am sure it will work out as it should for you, believe in that! I wish you all the best that you get it done so you do not have to change your date. Please keep us posted! ~hugs~ Debra P
